Frankie Smiles, also known as Frank Giarratano, began playing guitar in junior high school. Starting with a simple guitar and no formal instruction, he let passion guide his progress. Frankie expanded his skills by studying jazz at North Central College before earning a Master of Music degree from Northern Illinois University. Because of this strong musical education, Frankie Smiles Project live music blends technical ability with creativity and emotion. In addition, this background allows him to move smoothly between musical styles during each performance.

Over a 20+ year career, Frankie has performed at outdoor cafés, bars, restaurants, private parties, and special events. During this time, he also formed his own cover band, Millennium Falcon, while continuing his solo acoustic work.
